Gingerbread House Masterclass (Online Sep 11 – Oct 14)
Have you always wanted to enter a gingerbread house in an exhibit but don’t know how to make one? We’ve got you covered! Join us this fall either in person or on Zoom with Chef Tiffany to learn every step it takes to build a strong gingerbread house that you will be proud to enter in any gingerbread house competition.
We are partnering with The Norway House this year so you can learn how to create your own individual gingerbread house and submit it to their Gingerbread Wonderland exhibit. That’s why we have to start the class in September even though Christmas is still almost 4 months away. The exhibit this year is opening early (Nov 6 – Jan 3) so there’s enough time for everyone to visit by appointment. Participants can also enter an optional competition for both professional and amateur and several age ranges.
Exhibit entries must be delivered between October 13 and October 21, 2020 so they can create the exhibit. All entries that meet eligibility requirements (I’ll make sure this happens) are accepted. Entries will be viewable by a virtual tour online as well as in-person viewing at The Norway House by appointment only.
Chef Tiffany will be leading this class and creating her Diagon Alley display based on a LOT of lessons learned from last year. Make a gingerbread house right along with her and learn the tips and tricks to mastering the art of gingerbread houses.
What to Expect
Creating gingerbread houses that stand the test of time involves a lot of resting and drying time. That’s why our masterclass is delivered in intervals that allow the structure to set properly in between class times. This fall, the masterclass includes a one-hour orientation on September 11th from 12-1pm and 5 weekly classes on Wednesday evenings from 6-9pm from September 16 – October 14.
Students joining us online will attend the same class we are delivering in-person this fall. Parents will have the choice of purchasing an ingredients kit after enrollment or providing their own ingredients from the recipes.
Students will build a guide to gingerbread houses each week with handouts that describe Chef Tiffany’s lessons in writing. By the end of class the guide will be complete and can be used again at any time. Recipes, instructions, as well as tips and tricks are all included. Online students will receive their lesson plans one week in advance. This is our flagship class of the fall season and you won’t want to miss it.
